Riffs & melodies
Start with a short musical idea you can work on carefully. Learn where the notes are, how to fret them clearly and how to connect them into a phrase.

One-on-one lesson programs
Build guitar, bass or ukulele skills through songs you enjoy. Your teacher breaks the music into manageable parts, with technique, rhythm and musical understanding woven into the playing.
Is this approach for you?
This approach suits beginners who want to get playing and students who find a familiar song more motivating than an exercise on its own. You do not need to read standard music notation before starting.
Start with a short musical idea you can work on carefully. Learn where the notes are, how to fret them clearly and how to connect them into a phrase.
Build chord shapes, changes and strumming patterns in the context of a song. Slow things down so timing and clean playing develop together.
Use focused exercises to support the music you are learning. Your teacher connects each technical challenge to something you want to play.

Individual guidance
Tell your teacher what you listen to and what you would love to play. Together, choose material that fits your current skills.
Work on a riff, melody, chord change or rhythm before joining the pieces together. A full song is a goal to build toward.
Use TAB, chord charts, lesson notes and suitable recordings. Your weekly goal might be a smoother change, a clean phrase or steadier timing.
Between lessons
A favourite song gives practice a purpose. Your teacher records the sections to work on and helps you set a realistic target. Repeating a small section slowly and accurately is often more useful than rushing through the whole song.
