Good questions
Guitar lesson FAQs
Are Westboro lessons held at a local studio?
No. Go Guitar Lessons provides in-home and online instruction rather than a Westboro studio. Your teacher visits your home for in-person lessons, or you meet through live video for online lessons. Read lesson details.
What age can children start?
Children can start guitar lessons at age five. Readiness varies, so tell us your child’s age and experience. We can discuss a suitable starting point and instrument size before arranging a trial.
Can I start if I have never played guitar?
Yes. Beginners are welcome, including adults picking up an instrument for the first time. You can start with basic chords, rhythm and songs, with the pace tailored to your experience.
Do I need my own guitar? Are rentals available?
You’ll need a guitar for lessons and practice. Guitar rentals cost $7 per week for Ottawa students. Ask us about current rental availability and a suitable guitar before your first lesson. See rental information.
How often are lessons, and how long do they last?
Regular lessons are weekly, with 30-, 45- and 60-minute options. The best length depends on the student’s age, experience and goals. We’ll discuss those details and current scheduling options when you enquire.
How does the trial lesson work?
Request a trial and we’ll contact you to arrange a teacher, lesson format and time. Trial lessons have a charge, and we confirm the price before you book. Beginners start learning with their teacher; experienced players discuss their goals and next steps. Afterward, you decide whether to continue with a lesson package. View current prices and terms.
Can I take online lessons instead of in-home lessons?
Yes. Private online guitar lessons are available through live video. They suit students who want individual instruction without a teacher visiting their home. Let us know your preference when requesting a trial.
Do you offer other instruments?
Go Guitar Lessons also offers bass, ukulele and piano instruction. Teacher availability and service areas can vary by instrument. Explore our lessons or contact us to discuss your options.
